Communicable Control Disease Investigator II, City of Chicago
Mawiyah is currently a member of the Board of Directors for The Ounce of Prevention and works humbly to assist in meeting the organization’s mission, which is to give children in poverty the best chance for success in school and in life by advocating for them and providing them with highest-quality care and education from birth to age five.
This passion for youth development was ignited more when she was told of the Saturday band at Kennicott Park. As the proud parent of twins she was excited to involve her son and daughter and watch them develop and mature musically and personally. Their musical talents have afforded them opportunities to lead in school bands, faith-based organizations, and perform with Intonation All-Star Band CoCoYoYo around Chicago.
Mawiyah loves and listens to many genres of music. While she appreciates the sounds of today, nothing compares to the music of the 50’s – 90’s. She will sing ever so loudly to the classics with an awesome “Mom” dance to match.
