Nubia Shani Henderson is an educator, speaker, non-profit administrator, social-emotional learning advocate, mentor, and mother. She brings 20 years of experience in youth development practice, media production, and marketing communications to her role as Program Director at Intonation Music. Previously she served as a Program Specialist with After School Matters where she supported instructors and community-based organizations (CBO’s) with delivering quality programming to teens in the Greater Bronzeville community.
She is also the founder of kids jamm, a children’s yoga and wellness brand that partners with families, schools, and CBO’s to share the tools of mindful movement and meditation.
Nubia has had the honor of teaching yoga to youth via partnerships with After School Matters, Chicago Public Schools, The Art Institute of Chicago, The University of Chicago, Little Gems International, Youth Guidance, Polished Pebbles, and Village Leadership Academy, among other community-based organizations.
A Bronzeville resident and Howard University alumna, Nubia is a certified youth yoga instructor and trained in Youth Program Quality and Assessment (YPQA). She is a 4.0 Schools Fellow, member of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Incorporated; and loves practicing yoga and dancing with her daughter, Zahara to fuel her life’s work and spark more joy into daily life.
